Brilliant primary school pupils are setting their sights on university.
The Year 5 pupils from Little Parndon Primary Academy, in Harlow, were selected to take part in the Scholars Programme.
The scheme is run by the Brilliant Club, an organisation which aims to widen access for outstanding pupils in non-selective state schools to the most selective universities.
During a visit to Cambridge University, pupils took part in university-style tutorials delivered by a researcher PhD tutor. They also researched and wrote assignments on Pythagoras’ Theorem which were graded using university level scores.
Siobhan Hynes, Little Parndon teacher, said: “The visit gave pupils an opportunity to experience university learning.
“They all had a fantastic day and would definitely consider further education at university level as a result.”
Pupils were also given certificates for completing the programme.
