Harlow MP Visits Little Parndon

Posted: 14th October 2016
Harlow MP Robert Halfon joined the pupils at Little Parndon Primary Academy for breakfast club and spent some time explaining to the children his role as the Member of Parliament for Harlow. He described the different parts of his job and pupils were amazed when he said he can hear the sound of Big Ben from his office. Mr Hlafon asked the children a lot of questions about the books they were reading in class and then read the first chapter of his favourite childhood book, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis. He asked the children a lot of questions about the chapter and whether they preferred the book or the film. The children all agreed that the book was far more imaginative and gave more description.

Before he left, Mr Halfon gave all the children involved an official 'Reading with Rob' certificate and a book mark to remind them of the story.

Mr Halfon said he thought the children were extremely polite and enthusiastic and was impressed at the level of the books the children were reading. He has offered the children involved the opportunity to visit him at the Houses of Parliament, where he will give them a personal tour.
